1-hour Cinnamon Rolls! ♥
In between the hustle and bustle of a busy work week, Micah found time to make us a quick batch of cinnamon rolls! ♥ This recipe is a little simpler than our traditional cinnamon roll recipe and about 1/4 of the time to prepare but just as delicious!
Ingredients:
Dough Ingredients:
- 2 cups warm water
- 1/3 cup butter (melted)
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 TBS instant or ‘rapid rise’ yeast
Cinnamon Sugar Filling
- 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 TBS ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup butter completely softened
Icing
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cups powder Sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Activate yeast in warm water & sugar. Add butter, salt, and enough flour to make a firm dough.
- Place dough on lightly floured surface and kneed for 3 minutes adding additional flour if necessary! Place dough in lightly oiled boil and allow to rise for 20 minutes!
- Turn it out onto a floured work surface. Divide dough in half then use a floured rolling pin to roll 1/2 the dough out into a large rectangle, about 14 x 9 inches in size. Use a knife or pastry spatula to spread the softened 1/4 cup of butter out evenly over the entire surface of the dough. Then sprinkle evenly with HALF the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
- Beginning at the 14-inch edge, tightly roll up the dough. Use a bread knife to cut the dough into 11 or 12 equal pieces.
- Repeat step 3 &4 with remaining dough! Place each of the cut cinnamon rolls into well buttered pie plates or 2 9 x 13-inch baking dish. You can also use parchment lined cookie sheets! Then cover again with a towel, and leave the dish in a warm place to rise for 15 minutes. Meanwhile preheat oven to 400 degrees(f).
- When the rolls have risen, uncover the dish. Then place on the center rack of the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden and cooked through. Remove and let cool on a wire rack for at least 5 minutes. Drizzle with your desired icing and serve!
- For glaze: whisk together water, powder sugar, and vanilla. Add additional powder sugar or water depending on the desired thickness!

Happy Birthday Virginie! + Vanilla Cream Cupcake Recipe
You can’t imagine my delight when our sweet customer Virginie shared this lovely photo with us and wrote, “Today is my 21th birthday and I’m wearing my stretch Cecily in Rosebuds in Pink here in Belgium:-)”! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Virginie!!♡ May the Lord richly bless you this next year and all those that follow. :) In honor of your special day, we are sharing our FAVORITE Vanilla Cupcake recipe! Because a birthdays not a birthday without a cupcake! ♥
Yields: 3 dozen scrumptious cupcakes
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 bar (8 ounces) cream cheese, room temperature
- 3 cups sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With an electric mixer, beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar; beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla. With mixer on low, add flour and salt in two additions, beating until just combined.
- Line 3 muffin tins with liners & immediately pour in batter (usually 1 heaping 1/4 cup ice-cream scoopers full).
- Bake until golden and a toothpick inserted in the centers comes out almost clean, 20-25 minutes.
- Cool completely.
- Pipe on icing(recipe bellow) and top immediately with sprinkles!
- Brew a rather large pot of coffee, sit down with a few of your favorite people, and enjoy!! (:
BUTTERCREAM frosting:
- 3/4 cup butter softened
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (milk can be substituted)
- 1TBS vanilla
- 1/2tsp almond extract
- 5-6 cups powder sugar
- Cream together butter, cream, vanilla, and almond extract. Add powder sugar 1 cup at a time until icing reaches the right consistency.
- Pipe onto cooled cupcakes and enjoy!

With Spring comes lovely shades of Tea Rose + Mint here at Garlands of Grace! Every time I see the two together I instantly think of those outrageously cute Macaroons that have been so popular lately. ♡ Micah wore her Tea Rose Twist to the local nursery to choose a variety of delicious vegetable plants for her box garden, I had too much fun combining our Mint Stretch Cecily + Warm Vanilla Lace headwrap for 1 fun look, and Lydia added a vintage touch to her day with a braided up-do and her Tea Rose Twist!
